Research shows alcohol contributes to at least seven types of cancer, including those affecting the breast and liver.

연구에 따르면, 알코올은 유방암과 간암을 포함해 최소 일곱 가지 유형의 암을 유발할 수 있는 요인으로 밝혀졌다.

 

The advisory emphasizes that even moderate drinking may raise cancer risk, challenging the *notion that alcohol has health benefits.

권고 지침은 적당한 음주조차도 암 발병률을 높일 수 있다고 강조하며 알코올이 건강에 이로운 점도 있다는 기존의 인식을 반박한다.

To combat this issue, the surgeon general proposed updated labeling on alcoholic beverages to include explicit cancer warnings, reassessment of consumption guidelines, and expanded education campaigns.

이 문제를 해결하기 위해 공중보건국장은 직설적인 암 경고 문구를 포함한 업데이트된 주류 라벨 도입, 주류 소비 가이드라인 재검토, 교육 캠페인 확대 등을 대책으로 제시했다.

 

These recommendations mirror strategies used to reduce tobacco-related illnesses.

The advisory comes as younger generations increasingly favor nonalcoholic options, driven by growing recognition of alcohol’s health risks.

However, less than half of U.S. adults understand the link between drinking and cancer.
