Humpback Whale Migration Unveils New Migration Patterns
혹등고래 이동을 보니 새로운 이동 패턴 밝혀져

A remarkable discovery has revealed an unprecedentedly long migration pattern of a male humpback whale, travelling over 13,000 kilometers between the Pacific and Indian Oceans.
한 수컷 혹등고래가 태평양과 인도양을 오가며 무려 13,000km 이상의 전례 없는 장거리 이동 경로를 보인 것이 놀랍게도 발견되었다.
Initially spotted off the Colombian coast in 2017, the same whale was later identified near Zanzibar in 2022.
이 고래는 2017년 콜롬비아 해안 인근에서 처음으로 목격된 후, 2022년 잔지바르 근처에서 다시 발견되었다.
The identification was made possible through a citizen science database that uses AI to match distinctive whale tail patterns.
고래 꼬리의 독특한 패턴을 AI로 매칭하는 시민 과학 데이터베이스 덕분에 동일한 고래임을 확인할 수 있었다.

Scientists speculate that this extraordinary migration could be attributed to various factors, including the impacts of climate change on food availability.
